Dr. Shieh is the founder and director of the practice. She is a native of Virginia and received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Virginia and earned a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She completed a medical internship at the Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals of Cleveland and subsequently a dermatology residency at the State University of New York in Buffalo, NY, where she was named Chief Resident. Dr. Shieh completed advanced fellowship training in skin cancer, laser and photodynamic therapy at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York.
Prior to private practice Dr. Shieh worked for five years in academic practice and was the director of phototherapy at Beth Israel Hospitals and Asian division of the Skin of Color Center.Her expertise includes medical dermatology, skin of color, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, skin cancer, Botox®, injectable fillers and laser procedures for vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, scars and rejuvenation.
Dr. Shieh is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Columbia University and Mount Sinai Hospital and trains dermatology residents in their medical, surgical and cosmetic clinics. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Medical Association, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and The Dermatologic Society of Greater NewYork.She has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters and lectured at local, national and international meetings. She serves on the editorial board of Cutis.
Dr. Shieh’s philanthropic work is focused on the indigent in New York City. She supports Hope for New York, an outreach organization for the poor and marginalized in New York City. In 2010 Dr. Shieh established a free dermatology clinic for the homeless at the Bowery Mission Shelter in downtown Manhattan where she sees patients monthly.
